Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of problems is the Poly-Triplex Liner System designed to correct?

A: The patented Poly-Triplex Liner System is designed to stop infiltration, exfiltration, inflow, structural deterioration and corrosion. The patented monolithic design bonds to the existing structure to stop active infiltration and to provide superior immunity to corrosion from harmful sewer gasses such as H2S. In addition, because the liner is impermeable to moisture, it prevents the threat of root intrusion into the structure.

Q: Does your system enhance structural strength?

A: Yes, independent laboratory tests show that the PTLS-6800 has an ASTM-790 flexural strength of 44,535 psi, which is eight times what the nearest competitor can claim. Because of these superior properties, lining a structure with the patented Poly-Triplex liner composed of structural fiberglass, an impenetrable inner membrane and epoxy resins significantly enhances structural integrity.

Q: How do Poly-Triplex liners perform under extremely hazardous sewer conditions?

A: Poly-Triplex liners have undergone rigorous chemical testing and are resistant to the extreme pH levels of the most acidic sewer environments. Poly-Triplex liners are designed to withstand extremes of heat and humidity or freeze/thaw conditions and are immune to biological contaminants.

Q: How will the Poly-Triplex Liner System save my organization money?

A: In most cases, rehabilitation is much more cost efficient than dig and replace. Poly-Triplex liners are value engineered to quality standards unmatched in the industry, and have received a 100 Year Useful Life Certification. Therefore, unlike competing products, a Poly-Triplex liner is a one time cost that pays for itself in savings to treatment costs and maintenance costs that would otherwise continue to add up with inferior rehabilitation products. Competing products may have to be reapplied dozens of times while a Poly-Triplex liner continues to perform as it has from day one. Each liner is custom designed for the structure to be rehabilitated, so a certified representative of Guildner Pipeline Maintenance, Inc. should be contacted to arrange an inspection of the structure before an estimate can be made.

Q: How many manholes can you rehabilitate per day?

A: The size of the manhole being rehabilitated affects how many can be installed in a single day. Because of the unobtrusive nature of our lining process, a single crew can line from one to three manholes a day, usually without disrupting service or traffic flow.

Q: What types of structures can you rehabilitate?

A: Manholes, sewage pump stations, catch basins, culverts, large diameter pipes, vaults, wet wells, tanks and other large water/wastewater infrastructure. Poly-Triplex Liners may also be used to rehabilitate similar structures used in irrigation and in the chemical and industrial fields.

Q: How much of the structure does the system rehabilitate?

A: Because of our customized approach to each rehabilitation project, we work with our clients to adapt our liner system to each structure’s needs. For example, in manholes we rehabilitate from the ring and cover at the top of the manhole to the edge of the bench where it meets the invert channel at the bottom of the manhole. In other structures, we can rehabilitate the entire structure or work with the client to achieve optimal rehabilitation.

Q: Can you line inverts?

A: Yes we can; however, the flow would have to be stopped or diverted.

Q: Can you line pump stations?

A: Definitely. The equipment needs to be removed and the flow stopped or bypassed. Basically, if we have a pump station with no flow, we can usually line it within a 24-hour time period.

Q: How does the installation process affect the flow of sewage for manholes?

A: If the sewage flow can be contained within the invert channel, then it is not necessary to stop the flow. Only if there is a drop pipe or the flow can not stay contained within the invert channel will we need to stop or bypass the flow. Because we use trenchless technology, the disruption to traffic and the surrounding environment is negligible. We leave the site in better condition than we found it in.

Q: What makes Poly-Triplex unique?

A: The PTLS is a patented system that continues to demonstrate superior field performance. Liners installed over a decade ago show no sign of deterioration, with zero warranty claims. Each Poly-Triplex liner is custom-designed and installed by licensed professionals who are certified in OSHA safety standards. The design life of Poly-Triplex liners is 50 years and an independent engineering firm issued the Poly-Triplex Liner System a 100-Year Useful Life Certification. We offer an industry-leading, non-prorated 10-year warranty on materials and 5- year warranty on labor to assure the unparalleled quality of our product and service.

Q: Why should I choose Poly-Triplex over other rehabilitation methods?

A: Independent laboratory tests show that the properties of Poly-Triplex liners consistently exceed other methods in corrosion resistance and structural integrity, with an ASTM flexural strength of 8-times the nearest competitor. Cementitious products offer inferior bonding to the host structure and virtually no corrosion resistance. Spray-on coatings are a quick, cheap fix, but in the end you pay for what you get when the generic coating bubbles and cracks, adding no structural integrity and requiring reapplication every few years. Other imitation fiberglass or polyurethane bag liners don't offer the patented impenetrable inner membrane of Poly-Triplex and are likely to pull away from the host structure as they cure. Only Poly-Triplex is custom designed to meet your rehabilitation needs, enabling us to do it right the first time.
